Instead of letting these bags fade into obscurity, we give them a second life, transforming them into something meaningful.
Baby steps: While Bumiterra is in the process of transitioning into a plastic-free reforestation site, the first three months of a seedling’s life begins in polybags until they're ready for planting.
Mortier Repurposes For Change
From the forests of West Kalimantan to the bustling streets of Jakarta, these polybags embark on a new journey. Collected and cleaned during the Bumiterra team’s regular field visits, they travel with them, reducing carbon footprints by avoiding extra shipments. But the story doesn’t end there.
We partnered with Mortier, a pioneer in sustainable plastic repurposing, to create something extraordinary. Together, we were able to turn 60 used polybags into durable 5mm sheets. These sheets are carefully crafted into unique pins, each pin embodies the spirit of the forest and the promise of a sustainable future, representing both the resilience of nature and the dedication of those who protect it.
